Lotus - 1960's
It is easy to get confused by the number of Lotus cars that were raced here in the 1960's; it is also easy to be confused by the numbering system Lotus used. We’ll do our best to sort it for you. This listing is limited to the Lotus cars actually raced here by Northwest drivers in the period 1962-1970, otherwise it would be a lot longer.
* Lotus 6 - The first production Lotus racer. Used as the basis for the heavily modified Lotus 6-Buick driven by John Antons.
* Lotus Seven – The classic basic open sports car, driven by Dean Beckley and others.
* Lotus Eleven – 1100cc sports racer. Driven by many Northwest racers, including Bob Bentler, Glenn Brown, Jerry Mathews, Paul Scott and Russ Harness.
* Lotus 15 – After a lot of success in the years right before this book, Lotus 15s did not make many appearances.
* Lotus 18 – The first mid-engined Lotus single seater. Raced here as a F/Jr car by Monte Shelton, George Sabin, Pierre Phillips, Dewey Harless, Lew Florence,
* Lotus 19 –Mid-engined sports racer, successful in its own right, also frequently used as the basis for a V-8 engine. With original engine: Dave Tatom. As hybrid: Ford-Pete Nash, Chev-Jerry Grant and Lew Florence, Buick-Jerry Grant
* Lotus 20 and 22 – Early 60s F/Jr cars raced by Pat Pigott and Pete Lovely with Team Rosebud. Also Pierre Phillips, Eric Faulks
* Lotus 23 – 1500cc mid-engined sports racer drive with great success by Bob McLean and Pat Pigott.
* Lotus 27 - F/Jr and F/C. Raced by Dewey Harless, Pierre Phillips, Mike Fisher.
* Lotus 30 - Large displacement sports racer (Ford V8), Jake Rempel struggled with this car.
* Lotus 35 – F/2, f3/ F/C. Dave Ogilvy
* Lotus 49 - Formula 1 driven by Pete Lovely
* Lotus 51 - Formula Ford Gary VanHorn. Gil Weed
* Lotus Elan 26R - Production street sports car – the original Elan. Arnie Loyning
* Lotus Contina 28 - Lotus version of the Ford Cortina street/racer Pete Lovely
