Fairthorpe Electron Specials
A low-run and budget English car, Fairthorpe Electron-based specials were raced by top B.C. drivers of the day David Brown, Arleigh Pilkey and Mike Balfe. The car had Triumph suspension and drive train with a Coventry Climax 1100cc engine. Brown modified his and raced it as the Brown Electron Special in the late 1950s. Pilkey’s may have been the best-known Western Canada special; he raced it when he was well over 60 years of age starting in 1958. Unfortunately, Arleigh’s car with its 1100cc engine raced in the same class G as the Lotus 11s, so rarely won trophies.
