1954 SCCA Nationals Move to Bremerton
After the terrific success of the 1953 SCCA Nationals at Paine Field, the 1954, 1955 and 1956 editions were moved to Bremerton. The airport there could better handle the spectator Load.

1956 SCCA Nationals & Seafair Trophy Race - Bremerton Airport Racetrack - Bremerton, WA
1956’s big event was the August 12 SCCA Nationals and Seafair Trophy race at Bremerton Airport. Along with the rest of that year, it is covered extensively in Long Straights and Hairpins Turns, Martin Rudow’s book on the of PNW racing in the 1950s. All photos here are from that event.
1958 Season Photos Shelton Airport Racetrack -- Shelton, WA

The Northwest Grand Prix held September 30 at Pacific Raceways was the biggest event in the 1962 season, and one of the biggest ever in PNW racing history. The 1966 Northwest Grand Prix (NWGP) was the final chapter of several mid-60s Pacific Raceways events of the same name which were headliners on the West Coast road racing circuit.
1955 SCCA National – Seafair Cup, Bremerton
Biggest race yet in the Northwest saw Carroll Shelby, Phil Hill and Ken Miles – all in Ferraris –heading up the feature. For more photos and full race story see Long Straights and Hairpin Turns.
1957 Season Photos
Bremerton Airport Racetrack, Kitsap County, WA
South of the border, all of the racing was held at Bremerton's Kitsap County Airport. A shorter course than the one used for the SCCA Nationals of 1954, '55, and '56 was used.
