![]() 1954 SCCA Nationals Move to Bremerton
After the terrific success of the 1953 SCCA Nationals at Paine Field, the 1954, 1955 and 1956 editions were moved to Bremerton. The airport there could better handle the spectator Load. It was another terrific weekend drawing from all over the West Coast. 1956’s big event was the August 12 SCCA Nationals and Seafair Trophy race at Bremerton Airport. Bremerton Airport Racetrack, Kitsap County, WA South of the border, all of the racing was held at Bremerton's Kitsap County Airport. A shorter course than the one used for the SCCA Nationals of 1954, '55, and '56 was used. Racing here started in March and went on THROUGH December! The 1958 season saw most road racing in the northwest done at Shelton Airport. Most of our photos from that year thus are also from Shelton. It was the end of racing of Abbotsford.
